At Bear Spring, 'retreat' means to withdraw into nature and reconnect with the natural world. If you're looking for an outdoor experience you can enjoy with all comforts of home, this is the place. Choose from one of 6 walk-in glamping sites nestled in the Selkirk Mountains with stunning views of the Kootenay River below. It's a short 2 minute walk up to your canvas Stargazer tent featuring romantic skylights. Gaze at stars from the comfort of bed. Fall asleep to the soothing sound of crickets with gentle breezes caressing your face. Wake up to the sweet fragrance of cedar forests, enjoy a leisurely cup of fresh ground coffee onsite and taste food picked fresh from the guest gardens.
Each furnished tent sleeps two adults and includes a cozy pillow top queen bed, natural cotton bedding, side tables, ottoman, dresser, chair and desk and solar lighting. Sleeping mats for children available upon request for $5 each.

Add a meal kit to your stay. No need to pack food, cooler, ice or cooking equipment. Everything is provided for you to store, prepare and eat meals at our retreat. Kits include locally sourced ingredients, some picked fresh from our farm.
Private garden spaces offer comfortable adirondack chairs to spend lazy afternoons unwinding and picnic tables for dining. Enjoy the aromatic scents of rosemary, sage, lavender and mint in the surrounding gardens.
Enjoy a hot shower outside with stunning mountain views. The shower is built from reclaimed wood. It features an on-demand propane heater with a roomy change area and solar lighting. Our facilities include washrooms with sink and flushing toilets.
Prepare meals in our fully equipped outdoor cooking area complete with fridge, 2 burner propane stove, BBQ, griddle, toaster, kettle and all the necessary cooking utensils and dishes for cooking and eating. Some spices, oils and a condiment kit are provided.
Sip coffee while while watching the sun rise over the mountains, explore flower and vegetable gardens, forage in the forest or relax on the patio or on the lush lawns. Enjoy the amazing views by day or night.
Live it up at the campfire area. Paper, kindling and wood provided. The firepits are located on an earth bench in the gulley with views of the Kootenay River. A night breeze blows the smoke conveniently downwind.
Hike our trail up to Smallwood lookout and delight in the sweeping views of Nelson and area or take one of the many walking tours or workshops offered throughout the summer.
Experience the taste of sweet peas picked fresh from the guest garden we call "the salad bar''. You'll find a variety of vegetables, fruit or herbs throughout the season.
Choose from badminton, horseshoes and a cornhole outside or, on rainy days, darts and a wide variety of card and board games in the barn.
Our property is home to a thriving peony farm. June is the best time to see peonies in full bloom. Take a tour or order cut flowers, seeds, plants and roots.
We transformed our barn into a beautiful venue with amazing acoustics. Attend one of the many events happening in our barn throughout the season.

Standard belle canvas glamping tents are 13' in diameter and 8' tall featuring 4 windows and large double zipper doors. Furnished tent includes 2 twin beds, linens, and access to communal cooking area and fire pit. Sleeping mats for children are available upon request.
