Solita and Burke are owners and partners in Bear Spring Eco Retreat and the Trading Post. They met working in the exhibit design industry.
Solita graduated with a BFA in Visual Communications from the Alberta College of Art and Design. She has over 20 years working as a creative professional on projects ranging from graphic design to trade show exhibits and retail merchandising to wayfinding signage. She considers herself to be a visual problem solver comfortable working in any medium. Many of the items in the shop are created by her. She is also a champion for the environment and has made it her mission to reduce pollution and waste.
Burke has a particular interest in fine wood working and finishing carpentry. He worked as an exhibit fabricator for over 20 years managing large museum and trade show projects. With a wide range of skill sets such as engine mechanics and welding, he delivers the highest level of craftsmanship and detail.
Hands down! The most popular product is our recycled license plate tray. We ship them around the world. Burke's family all work in the automotive industry and have been collecting them for decades. Most of the plates were collecting dust in boxes until we decided to transform them into value added products. We get over a million views per month on our Pinterest account!
License plate bird houses will be back in stock this holiday season. Keep an eye out for those.
Our second most popular item is the 3D printed recycled plastic soap dish from The Rogerie in Kelowna. Their products are mindfully designed to give back to the community - or should we say, take. 100% of material comes from local landfills or other nearby suppliers, actively removing waste from the environment. No overseas shipping, no fossil fuels, no waste by-products - just clean, high-quality, everyday home goods made right here in BC and available in our shop.
