It’s a gathering where people exchange homemade, homegrown, or foraged food without using money. Food is the currency! Participants trade items like canned pears or home baked bread for jars of honey or eggs. It is based on trust, gifting, and sharing.
How does it work?
Bring homemade items (pickles, bread, jam, eggs) or excess produce. Set up your items on tables in our barn, perhaps with small samples for others to taste. Or wander around with items in a basket or box, and make trade offers.
Tips for trading.
Bring multiple small items rather than one large item to maximize trading opportunities. Don’t have food? Bring art or other homemade goods like soap or seeds to trade. The goal is to build community connections and share homemade food and goods.
The food swap will happen in the barn all day from 10 am to 4 pm.
