Our Beautiful Bella is Gone
Our beautiful Bella was killed by a driver on Monday, July 27th. Although, we're certain the women who hit her with her car did it entirely by accident, these incidents are 100% preventable by not driving. And the only reason anyone will pay attention to this particular death is because Bella was loved by humans. But, there are countless animals killed, including lots of humans, every day on our roads.
The Smallwood Forest Service road goes through our property for almost a kilometre. This is our home, was Bella’s home, and we have been pushing for non-motorized access only for exactly this reason. We will continue to push for this. Please consider the impact of driving on others when accessing recreational areas in rural areas. There is absolutely no life worth sacrificing so you can drive your vehicle into the wilderness. We don’t want it, the forest doesn’t want it and the animals don’t want it.
Bella now rests on her favourite perch where she will continue to watch over us in our memories. She was the best dog ever and we miss her dearly.
